Today, the Babkhan Shah Tameshab called a by-election to replace a widely inactive member of the Babkhan legislature. The member, Baharm Gul Khuramdin, was elected in the general election earlier this year on the basis of a new plan to revive and reform the Kingdom after the previous government under Grand Vizier Hesam Jahandar all but imploded. Having created a new political party in the Kingdom to bring together outspoken elements of the Beshaz Party and other parties, Khuramdin won a seat in the Majlis, only to not show up to take the oath of office. The election will occur from 15-22 June 2004.
