World Cup now down to 16

Kamalshar Stadium, Babkha– The 2004-05 EIFA World Cup Preliminary Finals are about to begin in Babkha, with the pool of teams vying for the number one position now nearly half.

When the tournament began more than two weeks ago, 28 teams took to field hoping to leave with the World Cup trophy. Now, at the end of the qualifying period, just 16 teams remain.

The teams are now in much harder pools than during the previous rounds, with most of the inexperienced teams no longer in the tourney.

The first games of the finals kick off tomorrow night, with the top two teams in each pool battling it out. At the end of this round, only two teams will survive from each pool. Who will it be!
